SUMMER LIP-STICK TIPS
We all know summer is around the corner. This season is inspiring us to reach for those bright colored cosmetic aisles. However, every time you choose to put a flash of color across your lips, you could be applying an alarming dose of lead to your mouth. This is a part of your body where chemicals are easily absorbed and ingested. In a new report found, lead in cosmetics are widespread. Over 400 lipsticks were tested positive for lead and brain- damaging contamination. Surprisingly , L'Oreal's (one of the best cosmetic brands) lipsticks being the worst offender.
According to Stacy Malkan, Co-founder of Campaign for Safe Cosmetics states that the lead isn't listed in the ingredient breakdown. However it could be coming from another contaminated ingredient. Sending it to get test wouldn't make a difference. SO JUST STOP WEARING IT. "It shouldn't be this hard for consumers to avoid toxic products,"Malkan says. "that's why we need to update the 1938 cosmetic regulations and give the Food and Drug Administration the authority and Resources to ensure the safety of cosmetics."
When it comes to cosmetics, lead is just one of the many things to watch out for. Many chemicals used in makeup has never been tested for human long-term health affects. The average women uses tons of personal care products everyday that contains more than 180 harmful chemicals.
Quick reminder to all the ladies, do research on the cosmetic your put on your body. Most of them are dangerous and can seriously affect you health severely.
